A CHRISTMAS CAROL

KICK OF CHRISTMAS WITH A CAROL - A FUNDraising and FOODraising Tradition!

Join us for a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL as we begin a Holiday tradition on Sunday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m.

It won’t be long before homes are made Christmas cozy with the scent of pine, the sound of carols and the warmth of family. We invite everyone to celebrate this festive time with us and, of course, Charles Dickens. Now a Christmas tradition across the country, a dramatic reading of CBC’s version of Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL will be presented on Sunday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m..

LOCATION: Studio Theatre , 119 Mimico Avenue, in Etobicoke (SE corner of Royal York Rd. & Mimico Ave. in Mimico Presbyterian Church)

TICKETS: $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students (10 - 16 years), plus a non-perishable food item.

PROCEEDS benefit the Sirius Theatrical Company Scholarship and Bursary Fund for local children, in true Dickens’ fashion.

Food items benefit local food banks.

“This will be a truly wonderful production,” says Heather Dick, Artistic Director. “that we look forward to making an annual holiday tradition. It will get everyone into the Christmas spirit, make a real difference for the many children who benefit from our classes and whose families depend on our Scholarship and Bursary Fund, and help local food banks at this special time of the year.”

The Sirius Theatrical Company production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL features well-known actresses Rosemary Dunsmore and Marianne McIsaac, and Lakeshore residents Scott Collie, Susan Nagy, Karen Shue and John Watson. Jerry Smith hosts the evening. International singer Cindy Ashton and pianist / composer Frank Horvat provide musical accompaniment.

DECEMBER STUDENT SHOWCASE

DECEMBER STUDENT SHOWCASE

Join our students on Saturday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. as they share some of the activities that they have been doing this fall with family and friends. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you and your child(ren) to see what we do in our classes. Meet the instructors and chat with parents and students about their experiences during the short reception that will follow the presentations.

We will be running a JELLY BEAN GUESSING CONTEST at the Sirius Theatrical Company booth at the Franklin Horner Family Fun Fair on Saturday, September 10 (see the article below), and at our booth on the new Mimico Square (Mimico Ave. and Lakeshore Blvd. W.) during the Shop the Shore event on Saturday, September 24.

Eliot Crackower of Real Estate Homeward has joined us this fall. He has been sponsoring some promotional materials this summer and has kindly agreed to co-sponsor 2 free courses for children or youth during the fall session.

Christie Heath, owner and designer of Sophie Girl Hats and our multi-talented Creative Storytelling instructor, is sponsoring the second and third prizes of the contest. Christie is donating 2 hand made children's hats for each event.

LOCAL FESTIVALS

FRANKLIN HORNER FAMILY FUN FAIR EXTRAVAGANZA - Saturday, September 10, 2011


The Franklin Horner Family Fun Fair is always a wonderful local festival. Artistic Director, Heather Dick, will be there so please stop by, say 'hello' and find out more about our classes and upcoming activities. We'll have masks for your children to decorate with donations going to our new Scholarships and Bursaries Fund. "Hats by Sophie" has generously donated two hand made hats for children. Contest ticket sales will also go towards our Scholarship and Bursaries Fund. Come out for a great time!

The Franklin Horner Community Centre is located at 423 Horner Ave. between Kipling and Browns' Line.

Lakeshore MARDI GRAS FESTIVAL - August 13 & 14, 2011

Come out and visit our table at the upcoming MARDI GRAS Festival on the Assembly Hall grounds. You can find out more about our upcoming fall classes, meet the Artistic Director and have a wonderful time. Hope to see you there!

MIMICO TULIP FESTIVAL

We've been having great fun attending some of the local village festivals. Heather was at the Mimico Tulip Festival in June and ran a local guessing game. Kids of all ages had great fun with the challenge!

PARTY IN THE PARK

On June 21, our children's drama instructor, Christie Heath, and two Youth Performance Ensemble members attended the Mimico Party In The Park. No photos unfortunately, but everyone had a great time.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ROGER ZURAW

CONGRATULATIONS TO ROGER ZURAW

In 2006, Roger Zuraw, an Etobicoke singer / song writer wrote the song MY PRAYER for our DREAMWEAVERS production. Last year, he submitted his song in the 17th annual Billboard Song Contest.

The judges commented that MY PRAYER was "structurally well crafted" and that Roger's performance had a "unique and honest musical delivery".
